While she represents every woman affected by male dominance and control, Linda Ann Moore was a real woman. A daughter, wife, aunt, friend and mother. Linda was our mother.
In 1988, after enduring six years of emotional abuse from her second husband, Linda suffered the ultimate form of domestic violence when her husband brutally murdered her in their home, leaving us, her three daughters, motherless.
Over the next 23 years, we searched for answers, dealt with our pain and anger, and started our healing journey all of which culminated in facing our former stepfather in prison in December 2011.
After facing our biggest nightmare, we knew it was our obligation to start an organization to end domestic abuse to prevent others from experiencing the heart-wrenching journey we have had to endure.
In 2012, Linda’s Voice was launched. Domestic abuse, whether physical, emotional or verbal, is about power and control over another and it destroys a woman’s sense of self-worth and inner strength.
The organization evolved in 2016 when we realized violence against women is rooted in a global culture of discrimination in which the patriarchal society thrives.
We are all born into this patriarchal system and participate unconsciously. It is time it ends. To overcome this silent epidemic we must first speak up about it.
It is only when our voices are united that we become too loud to ignore. We ask you join us on our journey.
From our hearts to yours,
Kelley, Amanda & Summer
